Our Mission at the Manhattan Gazette
The Manhattan Gazette was founded with a clear mission: to rethink the role of the fourth estate in our lives as Americans. We believe in the power of the press to not only report on injustices but to actively work towards their resolution.
Our focus is on the miscarriages of justice that have taken place in our city. We don’t just report on these issues; we take action. Through the filing of Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, we demand that the city release withheld evidence, ensuring transparency and accountability.
In addition to our investigative work, we organize fundraising campaigns to protect affordable housing and preserve the soul of our beloved New York City. We are committed to maintaining the diversity and character that make this city unique.
But our mission goes beyond traditional journalism. We provide a platform for New Yorkers to bring attention to the issues that matter most to them. By registering for an account on our site, any reader can submit their own articles for publication. If accepted, contributors will automatically receive a share of the revenue generated by their articles, with earnings tracked in real-time through our Article Manager tool.
Get involved. Generate a new stream of income. Make a difference in the lives of your neighbors by reading and contributing to the Manhattan Gazette.
The Manhattan Gazette was founded by John Mateer, a resident of the East Village and a proactive advocate for the preservation of affordable housing options in New York City.
