Trump Calls Harris "Not a Good Debater," Despite Her Impressive Record, Continues to Dodge Debates

New York, NY — Former President Donald Trump recently intensified his attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her "sort of a nasty person" and "not a good debater" on Fox & Friends. This was followed by a self-assured declaration from Trump that all media outlets love him at the moment, which prompted smirks from the Fox & Friends hosts.¹ This all comes after Trump dropped out of a planned debate between the two candidates for the nation's highest office this September.²

Trump's comments come as an unsurprisingly off-the-mark representation of reality given Harris' strong debate performance history, notably her 2019 debate in which she was able to swiftly rake in significant support for her candidacy and steal headlines following her now-famous confrontation of Joe Biden.³ Harris’ subsequent vice presidential debate in 2020 with former Vice President Mike Pence also earned Harris accolades for her unforgivingly confident interjections of, "Mister Vice President, I'm speaking" when Pence would cut her off mid-sentence.⁴

Trump initially agreed to debate Harris but has since expressed reluctance, suggesting he will "probably" participate, but leaving room to back out only makes us think he is well aware he has plenty to fear.⁵
