Chappell Roan TikTok, Chappell Roan Parasocial Relationships, Chappell Roan crazy fans, Chappell Roan upset TikTok

NEW YORK, NY - Chappell Roan is perhaps one of the first stars in the 20s to shoot to superstardom in the manner that she has. It is a phenomenon (or rather, a femininomenon) that comes around once a generation, and this generation chose Chappell Roan.

In the wake of such sudden global stardom, we are witnessing the first meteoric rise to unimaginable fame take place right in the palm of our very hands. Roan, while seemingly enjoying the success of her work, understandably is becoming uncomfortable with celebrity culture. For one, it was thrust upon her so fast that she didn’t even get any time to adjust. Second, who says she needs to adjust? Perhaps we are the ones in need of adjusting.

Today, we briefly discuss parasocial relationships and why it’s unacceptable behavior to approach someone you do not know and act like you are entitled to their time, kindness, and attention.

First, let’s take a look at what Chappell Roan posted this past week on TikTok:

What is a 'parasocial' relationship?

Well, if prefixes mean anything.. parasocial and parasite starting with the same one means we are not off to a great start.

"A parasocial relationship is a one-sided psychological bond where an individual develops a sense of friendship, connection, or emotional attachment to a celebrity, media personality, or fictional character. Unlike traditional social relationships, the celebrity is usually unaware of the individual's existence, but the individual may feel a strong personal connection due to the consistent and often intimate exposure to the celebrity's life through media, interviews, and social platforms

In short, it is a delusional state of mind where a sense of ownership over the artist or media personality is established."

"I can yell out of my car at you because you’re famous."

No, you really cannot.

"I love you!

No, you really do not.

You do not know these people. These people do not know you.

Where some are making claims that Roan will not last very long in the industry, I would like to make my own prediction: Chappell Roan is going to change the industry.

We are about to see a shift. One where celebrities aren’t treated any differently than regular people on the street. I have faith. The likes of Halle Berry and Hilary Duff have been fighting this battle for decades. We have lost human life to this battle… John Lennon… Princess Diana.

Set your entitlement to the side and listen to this woman. She is saying something profound yet so simple. You do not know her. So leave her and her family alone

Stalk her? End up arrested.

Stalk her family? End up arrested.

What about this artist giving you a piece of music that has inspired you so much.. makes you feel the need to suffocate and harass her in return?

When she is off the clock, she is off the clock. This goes for everyone. She isn’t her job, she is a human. So treat her like one. Better yet! Don’t treat her any way.. just leave her the hell alone! It takes a total of zero energy to do so.
